Reiki History

Usui Reiki is a system of healing developed by Dr Mikao Usui in Japan in the early 1900’s.  Initially he only used Reiki on himself and his family, but so important did he realise his discovery to be, that he began teaching people how to access this healing energy.
He eventually taught 2000 people the art of Reiki (1st Degree) 50 people (2nd degree) but only 17 people the Master level.
His healing skills must have been extraordinary, as he was known and admired all over Japan for helping several hundred thousand people, including many of those injured in the Tokyo earthquake on 1st September 1923.
